It feels like all media, from tv shows to movies are all following a certain formula, with a goal to drive a certain social perspective about people and society.

I don't think it's a goal. I think it's that the corporate machine which makes media can't really do otherwise for structural reasons.

It may not be the primary goal but it certain is on the agenda for the writing guidelines of the scripts that are produced.
