So an effect that kills are humans wouldn't be real, as long as it kills faster than you can perceive. Are things predating humans not real?
Any physical thing that doesn't relate itself to a spatial location or doesn't honor space, distances, time, causality - does not belong the real world that is defined by the same artifacts.
