Granted this isn't usable for all kinds of problems, however plenty of enterprise CRUD software can be easily tackled with such agentic runtimes.

For what it’s worth, I did have a look at the site you linked, but it seems to be one of those frustrating home pages that is full of buzzwords and devoid of substance, so I am none the wiser about what their product does or who might be interested in it. How do you think it fits in with the kind of hypothetical future programming languages and tools we were discussing above?

People love to make such claims, but the actual CRUD part of enterprise system, while it’s the primary interface, isn’t the actual value of that enterprise and most enterprise code I’ve seen rely already on frameworks to take care of the technicalities. Most of my time has been taken by what should happen when you do one the CRUD actions. The specs of that can be quite complicated to gather, easy to build, and difficult to verify.

Yes, nonetheless plenty of RFPs nowadays are for using such platforms instead of traditional coding.

That is left for microservices, aka MCP tools, being called from such agentic runtimes.

Do those RFPs come from the users or the buyers?

We had RAD tools like Access and we still have Excel. Even if they do lack some capability, you can do implement most of the core ideas of whatever features you’re trying to prototype. Actual coding is then to translate that to another platform and solve some accidental complexity.

Those core ideas are what’s valuable and they do not change often over the lifetime of a business. If the software has a good architecture, maintenance cost can be quite low.

Of course they come from business management, users seldom have an opinion in corporate sales, and when asked about, it is already on top of the future platform development roadmap.
It’s often wild that people not building something and people not using something are trying to design it. You can’t be surprised that it’s always governed by fads and hype.
